how we met

it's a typical boy-meets-girl story.

boy meets girl during a humor writing class in spring 2008.  at first boy is seeing some other girl.  girl is talking to some other guy.  and, though girl does not notice boy at all, boy falls madly in love with girl.

awkward tension builds for months.
neither is seeing or talking to anyone else.
girl goes to africa for research.

boy goes to wisconsin for boy scout camp.

boy and girl write lots of letters during that summer, including an embarrassing package featuring zombie survival guide and a recording of girl singing "happy birthday." when boy gets off the airplane in august, she is there to pick him up.  they leave holding hands.

(see? totally normal story).

important things about adrienne, according to ben:

1.  adrienne is driven.  like, whoa.  once she knows what she wants, she works hard to get it and lets nothing stand in her way.  deciding what it is she wants on the other hand...

2.  adrienne graduated clemson with a b.a. in english and minors in sociology and communications.  her current job pays her to teach autistic children one-on-one at their homes, go ice-skating, and play skeeball at the arcade.

3.  in what free time she has she cooks.  and reads. and writes the most amazing stories filled with raw characters, belly laughs, and real tears.  her creativity is constantly set to 11.

4.  she lives on schedule, and while i may be the one with ocd, she has to admit she can't stand disorder either.

5.  her mind is always buzzing so she has to hold her thoughts dearly.  if she doesn't finish them they might run away.  so if you talk to her while she's focused she can't hear you.  dementia?

important things about ben, according to adrienne:

1.  ben is a funny guy. and so spontaneous!  sometimes it embarrasses me - like when he makes sad trombone noises at williams-sonoma - but he usually just pushes me outside of my little box and creates more fun than i ever thought i could have.  one day he'll get paid for this.

2.  he is graduating from clemson in may 2011 with a b.s. in electrical engineering and a minor in creative writing.  how cool is that?!

3.  unlike most southerners, ben is fully capable of driving in the snow due to taking driver's ed in wisconsin.  he lived there for five years while his dad was in the navy.  he can also make incredible snowmen.

4.  ben had gills for several years.  he claims it was a fistula, but i call it gills.  hopefully our kids don't have gills.

5.  he loves to learn new information about everything. especially jesus.  we also listen to npr {wait wait, don't tell me!} together, and it's nerdy bliss.
